Silence and Peace

Easan is ideal if you are looking for Peace and Quiet, to heal and reconnect with nature.

Walk into the Bog, and quite quickly you may realise that the quality of sound has changed.

Sometimes, you can hear nothing at all, and the nothingness itself has a quality of profound silence.

It is a sort of Deep Peace. I believe this comes from the Bog itself, with its layer upon layer of mosses and decaying vegetation and water, myriad plants, flowers and insects all suspended in time and place. The soundlessness is similar to that experienced after a deep snowfall.

Sometimes you can hear noises. Depending on the season, you can hear the everlasting burble of the meadow pipit, the song of the skylark and many other birds. You can hear the wind and your own breathing. But you won’t hear any cars or lorries, any machines.

The cottage does have internet via a wireless system but if you prefer, you can turn it off; there is no mobile signal other than via the internet Wifi.

If you wish to experience off-grid, you can turn the electricity off; the open turf fire warms the house well and there are lots of candles, plus the hob is powered by gas.
